AMCHI                      a term used by the Saraswat Brahmins of the Konkan Coast to identify                                                           themselves,  "us, one of us" 

GARAM MASALA     a spice mixture of heat inducing, "garam", spices

MASALA                    a blend of spices, dry or moist, used to flavor food

JAGGERY

PULAO                       a luxurious rice dish seasoned with spices and garnished with saffron, raisins and                                        nuts, often combined with vegetables, fowl or meat
